Nathalie Woolsey Butler

BSc Sports Science (2000)/ Level 5 Massage therapist, Sports Massage Association (2005).

Profile

Since qualifying as a sports massage therapist in 2005 after graduating from Liverpool John Moores University with a BSc in Sports Science, I have worked in private practice as well as in elite sport.

I spent a year as the sports massage therapist for Nottingham Rugby Club before starting to work for the English Institute of Sport, where I spent 15 years. During this time, I worked with British Canoeing at Holme Pierrepont National Water Sports Centre as well as British Swimming, UK Athletics and Multi sports at Loughborough University.

I had the privilege to be part of the British Athletics team at the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Paralympics, as well as attending the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games and London 2012 Olympics with British Swimming. During this time, I have also worked at several swimming, World, European and British Championships, as part of a multi-disciplinary support team. Since having children, I no longer travel with the swimming team, however, I do still work with the athletes based at Loughborough Performance Centre.

I have also worked at Spire Nottingham Hospital since 2017 working closely with the practitioners in the physiotherapy department.

My treatment process

I work with the individual and their goals to decide the best treatment approach. I view everyone as an individual and work with them to identify the area/s of need. Also working in collaboration with the physiotherapist if appropriate.

Whether I’m treating for pain relief, injury recovery, pre or post operatively, to reduce stress and anxiety or to improve circulation. My aim is to always make the individual feel better, enhance physical function and to enable them to perform at their best.
